New Mexico - Local Board & Delegate - Unopposed

“Organized labor is, I believe, the most formidable force for a better life for all workers, and that includes artists. A proud New Mexico native, I moved to Los Angeles in 1990 for acting. Now, as New Mexico has come into its own in film and television, I have been able to return to my home state. Being from northern New Mexico, if the production landscape had been like it is now in 1990, I would have simply moved to Albuquerque. A SAG-AFTRA member since 2001, I've worked on camera as a background performer, a stand in and a principal performer. More recently, I've joined the ranks of audiobook narrators. I've served our union in the Los Angeles local on the Womens' Committee, the Open Board Committee and the Communications Committee. I was elected as a delegate in the Los Angeles local to the inaugural convention after the merger and to every convention afterwards until I moved back to New Mexico. I love the creative community here in Lobo-land. I want to do what I can to make sure New Mexico SAG-AFTRA members are able to thrive in our chosen craft. To name a few, I'd like to pitch in with efforts on the part of our union to ensure AI does not infringe on our ability to be compensated, that contracts regarding streaming are improved and that our concerns around self-tape auditions are addressed. In light of these issues and more, and in solidarity with the heroic strike of our sisters and brothers in the WGA, I leave you with this quote from Frederick Douglass in 1857 - "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." I'll be here with my sisters and brothers to make that demand - for the sake of our passion and our craft. … Thank you for taking the time to read this.
