Philadelphia, PA (05/16/2023)–Harold G. Eder II announced his intention to run for SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia local board and Delegate.  Having formerly interned and then been employed by Clear Channel (now iHeart Media,) Harold possesses a wealth of behind-the-scenes Media understanding,  but he is best known now for his film work in front of the camera.  

As a local board member and Delegate for Philadelphia, Harold plans to make a difference on day one.  “I am taking issue with the handling of the pandemic, contract negotiation planning, and pension investment planning. Handling of the pandemic did not take a cause and effect logic to foresee potential issues and create resolutions for those scenarios. In contract negotiations my intuition is that gains from prior contracts are not renewed and lost and forgotten. The pension investment to my understanding is only three investments. Does that sound diverse enough to you?” Harold says.

2023 SAG-AFTRA Secretary-Treasurer Candidate Peter Antico said “Our current leadership, many of who I adore, are sadly not equipped to deal with matters of finance.  They are artists.  We need board members around the country with a good understanding of economics and the business of media.  Harold has exactly that background.”

Harold has worked on local productions which include; Like Mike, Invincible, Creed II, & Somewhere In Queens; on Television: Dispatches From Elsewhere, Mare of Easttown, & Servant.  Harold has held employment in a diverse wealth of Industries, from entertainment, to summer camp as an athletic director, and a lifetime of volunteering locally and nationally. His understanding & toolkit is vast. 

Harold says he was fascinated and drawn to all aspects of Film, Radio, & Television since an early age. Like so many SAG-AFTRA members, Harold made his childhood dream a reality through hard-work and sacrifice. 

Eder II called on all members to take action.  “Strengthening our local is every member’s responsibility; yours is attendance at meetings to hold leadership accountable for their actions and transparent, mine if elected will be using every life experience that faced me to design regulations that make it clear to fellow leadership that they must honor our Constitution and work ONLY on the behalf of our members - Creating avenues that allow every member to work equally: Doing a postmortem on the decisions and actions during the pandemic, limiting the fallout, and preparing for the next major crisis. Giving new members the full knowledge of every option available to them on day one. I implore you to look out for my Candidate Statement and use it to reflect and relate what I say to your particular circumstances and experiences. Do you deem me worthy of a leadership role on the local board or at the very least allow me to contest a seat? You should.” 

As a producer, Harold over saw (from 2006 – 2017) stations WDAS, Power 99, Q102, Radio 104.5, Mix 106, and Rumba 1480. Harold G. Eder II is the first candidate in Philadelphia to announce a campaign for SAG-AFTRA board in the 2023 election season.
